Through my life journey I've come to believe that complex problems must only be met with complex solutions. However, as I start to grow in the art space and truly understand what art is I no longer see my previous statement as truth. Why? Art is like water; if you put it in a bottle that is the form it will take, the same if you fill a pool or your favorite tea pot. You see where I’m going!
My visual art has the unique ability to incite wonder in its beholder. To inspire is to create solutions. A young or seasoned person with no path, no inspiration, or simply a means of expression can become a host of an endless cycle of society's “complex problems”. We see this through violence, emotional instability, lack of rehabilitation, and/or economic drawbacks. As an artist I now see that creating a canvas that someone can see themselves in allows for hope to exist. “I’m heard, I’m seen, I can relate.” My art is storytelling; it's the depiction that you are stronger than your circumstances or challenges you face. It’s the inspiration to find a deeper connection to oneself through expression, love, and culture.
My art is deliberate yet subtle in its message to you. I believe that through my work I can not only heal the heart space; but raise the morale of those who allow me to capture them as well as those who are able to connect through observation. We can only offer solutions by first understanding the complex problems and deciding which to face. Artists can truly save the world this way. Our desire to go deeper, to find space, and hold it will only push us closer to true harmony through expression. In short, I believe that there is simplicity in solving any complex problem; art itself.
